Mary Jo Oliver, 84, of Hot Springs, was called home late in the morning of April 5. Welcoming her home were her husband, R.V. Oliver; her parents, A.J. and Clara Louton; and her siblings Chester Louton, Robert Louton, Clarence Louton, Alta Strickland, Lindsey Louton, Lecia Sanders, and Clyda Seastrunk.

Mary Jo lived a life of giving. No one was immune to her generosity- invites to her church home, Centerfork Missionary Baptist, were freely and often given, as were her time, and her love.

To Mary Jo, quiet moments were for prayer or to read the Bible. The unquiet moments were for laughter and lessons. When her son, Jimmy, decided he would take up dipping tobacco, Mary Jo replaced the tobacco in his dipping can with chicken mess. Jimmy suddenly had no interest in tobacco in any form.

Mary Jo’s memory will be cherished by her son, Jimmy (Susan) Oliver; her grandsons, Jason (Amy) Oliver and Jeremy (Allison) Oliver; her ten great grandchildren; one great grandchild; her brother, Orville (Hazel) Louton; as well as, her church family at Centerfork Missionary Baptist Church.

The family would like to thank Quapaw Nursing and Rehab for their loving care and all the kindness shown to Mary Jo during her time there.

Mary Jo was always such a sweet and kind person. It was a privilege to know her and I know she will be dearly remembered by all. I’m sorry I can’t attend the services due to being out of town.
