Myrna Margaret Garner, 83, of Hot Springs, passed away December 23, 2019. Myrna left her earthly home surrounded by her beloved daughters, extended family members, and precious friends who, hand in hand, circled her bedside in prayer and a hymn.
The youngest and only girl born to the late Gus Alvin and Maude Blanche Loy, Myrna arrived in April of 1936. Her brothers- Marvin, Junior, Jewel, Carol and Leonard- all preceded her to Heaven.
When Myrna first met Bob Garner, she commented that he was all arms and Adam’s apple. Eventually she tripped over that apple, falling head over heels for Bob. Together they traveled, raised a family, restored an old home, and welcomed many grandchildren. Their honeymoon lasted more than 55 years until he passed in 2009.
Myrna had a welcoming spirit. Whether she was laughing, cleaning, cooking, offering candy, enjoying a late night movie, or giving sage advice- her gentle kindness, genuine warmth, and real love put everyone at ease. This is true even for the tiniest of people as Myrna was known as the “baby whisperer.” It would not be an exaggeration to say, everyone loved Myrna.
To Myrna, family was everything. Her daughters Susan (Doug) Jones, Angie (Lary Joe) Ledbetter, and Joanna (Dale) Jenkins; grandchildren Robert (Jennifer) Jones, April (Jason) Sullivan, Jessika Ledbetter, Joseph Ledbetter, Ella Ledbetter, Morgan Jenkins, and Lauren (Alex) Maxwell; nine great grandchildren; First Freewill Baptist church family; nieces and nephews she loved as her own; close extended family; and friends, who may as well be deemed related, will miss the unconditional support, love, and wisdom Myrna always generously offered.
