

Opal Scott, 89, of Hot Springs, passed away peacefully on August 26 surrounded by family. Opal was born to the late Leland and Nellie Kizer Weatherford. Opal was a member of the Lake Hamilton Assembly of God and also attended the Lockhaven Church of the Nazarene.
She was predeceased by her husband Charles and her siblings Hershel Weatherford and Lorene Traywick.
Opal loved to travel especially through the Smoky Mountains; Cades Cove was a favorite destination. Opal was a proud member of the Kroger Coffee Club where a donut and coffee accompanied many philosophical discussions. She spent afternoons tending her vegetable garden and roses.
These were things that she loved, but none more than her late husband Chuck, her daughter Brenda (Houpt) and her grandchildren Tiffany and Tyler (Houpt). Opal is also survived by her sisters Wilma Walker and Verlene (Robert) Oliver and by her brother Curtis (Geraldine) Weatherford. She was deeply loved by a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Tyler Houpt, Jerry Oliver, Ron King, Tommy Traywick, Mitch Weatherford, Matt Weatherford, Mark Weatherford, Greg Weatherford, and Lonnie Weatherford.
Honorary Pallbearers are Marsha King, Melissa King, the staff at Hollywood Family Clinic, Arkansas Hospice staff, Gentiva Home Health workers and NPMC Rehab and Med II unit.
Visitation will be Friday at Gross Funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral service will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Gwin Horton and Rev. J.B. Evans.
Burial will follow at Rushfork Cemetery.
