Sissy shared her amazing smile with everyone. Her love was genuine, true, and unconditional. Sissy loved being an aunt, swimming, dancing in the kitchen, listening to music, feeding the ducks, and watching “Golden Girls.”
Sissy participated in the Cerebral Palsy Foundation Telethon from 1980 to 1994 to help raise funds and awareness for programs in the Mid-South area. She was also a medal-winning Special Olympian at UT Martin from 1994 -2000.
After graduating from Houston High in 2002, Sissy worked twice a week at the Adult Learning Center gardening and making crafts to sell locally. She relocated to Memphis, Tennessee in 2007 and became active in the Special Needs Ministry at Bellevue Baptist Church.
Sissy was especially close to her sister, Sarah Beth (Jared) Martin, whom she called “Ga-Ga”, and Sarah’s children: Adisyn, Andrew, Ava, and Alston. Sissy loved attending her nieces and nephews as babies to toddlers.
Sissy will also be missed by her mother, Donna Murphy; brother, Dakota (Destini) Murphy; grandfather, Russell Murphy, Sr; as well as, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family who loved her very much.
Sissy was preceded in death by her grandparents: Dr. Buck Morton, Annette Morton, and Patsy Ann Murphy.
Sissy shared her birthday, September 26, with her father, Russell Murphy Jr. Sadly, her father passed January 13, 2021 just hours after Sissy had gained her wings. On January 27, 2021 they were joined by Russell Sr., Rachael's grandfather and Russell's father. The family will celebrate Sissy,her father, and grandfather at 1pm February 6, 2021 at Memphis Memory Garden.
