Robert T. (Bob) Lane, 90, of Mount Ida, Arkansas, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022.
He was born November 24, 1931 in Norman, Oklahoma to the late Charles Wesley & Luna Bernice (Navarro) Lane. Bob was a sergeant in the USMC. He served in the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart. He earned his degree in geology from the University of Oklahoma, but found his calling as an insurance agent, specializing in life insurance. He was past president of the State Association of Life Underwriters, and previously was active with the Kiwanis & Boy Scouts. He was a member of the Joplin Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years. Bob was a member of Joplin United Methodist Church. .
He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Charlene Lane and his son, Jay Robert Lane.
Bob is survived by his wife, Char Lane; daughter Vicki Chamlee; stepsons Brian Carter (Betty), Brett Carter (Jennifer), and Sean Alexander (Margaret); brother Hewitt Lane; 3 grandchildren, Michael Dennis (Jessica), Benjamin Dennis and Emily Schlick (Levi); 8 great-grandchildren and a numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A celebration of life will be held 11:00 on Saturday, August 6th, at Joplin United Methodist Church.
