Ronald Steven Brown, known to most as Steve or affectionately as “Jelly,” passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family. Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Vernell Arnold; his father, Martin Brown; and his brother and best friend, Don Brown.
Steve lived a life marked by purpose, creativity, and deep devotion to his family. He was incredibly proud of his service in the United States Navy, including his time spent serving on a river boat in Vietnam.
Steve was a gifted carpenter who loved working with his hands and creating things. He was also a talented musician, songwriter, and performer who found great joy in music and in sharing it with others. Music was close to his heart, and he made it a point to pass that love on to his family. He gave each of his grandchildren their own instrument, a small but meaningful gift that reflected his love, his creativity, and the joy he found in watching them grow.
Steve was a man who wore many hats—husband, dad, grandad, brother, musician, artist, craftsman, sailor, and friend—and he filled every role with heart. He loved deeply and intentionally, always making sure he was present, involved, and supportive. His daughters and grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took immense pride in each of them. His love showed not only in words, but in time spent, lessons shared, and memories made.
Steve is survived by his devoted wife, Eva Brown, his daughters, Robyn (Chris) Hoover and Hollie (Justin) Long, stepdaughter, Hannah Rice; and his seven cherished grandchildren: Ethan (Abigail) Hoover, Valleigh (Obie) Staggs, Emmersyn Hoover, Ensley Hoover, Hadleigh Erickson, Eli Erickson, Paislie Long, Behr Long and Baylor Long. He is also survived by his loving sister, Susan Grey, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
Steve’s legacy lives on through his family, his music, and the countless lives he touched. He will be forever loved and never forgotten.
