Known affectionately as “Junior” to family and friends, he was born on July 27, 1941, in Rios, Texas, son of the late Rufino Hinojosa and Eva M. Hinojosa of Kingsville, Texas. During the early part of his career, he trained thoroughbred horses traveling to tracks in Illinois and here in Hot Springs at Oaklawn Park. He also worked a number of years at Union Carbide before taking a position with Hot Springs Country Club. An avid outdoorsman, he looked forward to spending time in the woods each deer season, as well as quality time with his two grandchildren.
Junior is preceded in death by his father and mother, in addition to one brother, Emede Hinojosa, of Kingsville, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Berta Hinojosa, son Scott (Jennifer) Hinojosa, and grandchildren, Hunter and Isabella Hinojosa, all of Hot Springs, Arkansas, one brother, Luis (Linda) Hinojosa of Burleson, Texas, and four sisters, Albesa Lozano of Kingsville, Texas, Ninfa Garcia of Harlingen, Texas, Elsa (Ernesto) Hinojosa of Kingsville, Texas, and Olga Vela of Alice, Texas, and sister-in-law, Joan Hinojosa of Kingsville, Texas.
The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Tim English and Dr. Neeraj Bharany in addition to friends Bill Allen, Steven Degrasse, Ruben and Lala Garcia and Juan Segura.
Interment services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018, at Crestview Memorial Park in Hot Springs with Fr. George W. Sanders of St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Church officiating.
