He was born February 1, 1935 in Kirksville, Missiouri to the late Robert Edgar & Loetta C. (Newcomer) Epperson. Russell was a veteran of the U.S. Military, a retired truck driver and enjoyed going to Oaklawn for both live and simulcast racing.
He is preceded in death by, his wife Carolyn Epperson and a daughter Susan Epperson.
Russell is survived by his son, Russell Epperson, Jr. , and his wife Sherri; grandson Russell Epperson III(Trey); granddaughter Kristi Epperson; and a sister-in-law Lorraine Garner.
