

Shirley Ann Carter, 75, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She was surrounded by her loving family at Belvedere Nursing Home and Rehab Center. Born on October 15, 1949, in Athens, Alabama. Shirley lived a life marked by honesty, strength and unwavering faith.
A proud daughter of Raymond Clem and Ruby McDole, both of whom preceded her in death. Shirley was also proceeded by four older brothers. Despite these losses she carried their memories with her throughout her life with resilience and grace.
Shirley shared a devoted marriage with her husband, Garland Wayne Carter of 56 years. Together they built a family rooted in love and loyalty. She was the proud mother of Matthew Carter (Kerri Carter) and Shannon Evans (Sonny Evans). Her legacy continues through her grandchildren Lakyn (Austin Wilson), Hunter, Max and Sam. They also have two great grandchildren; Logyn and Brooks.
Known for her candid spirit and unfiltered honesty, Shirley never hesitated to speak her mind. Those who knew her appreciated this rare authenticity. She was someone who told it like she saw it and stood firm in her convictions.
A God fearing Christian woman, Shirley attended church faithfully at Grand Avenue Baptist for many years in Hot Springs AR. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life and a guiding light for those around her.
Shirley found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a passion for sports and could often be found cheering on her favorite teams. She loved fishing- relishing the quiet moments by the water and enjoying the thrill of gambling from time to time.
Her passing leaves a deep void in the hearts of those who loved her. Yet even in sorrow there is a comfort knowing that she departed this world with a blissful heart and in peace.
