Virgil Daniel “Dan” Keeley, 72, of Little Rock, AR, joined our heavenly Father on May 3, 2021. He was born in Stuttgart, AR on December 30, 1948 to Glen Etchieson Keeley and Virgil Daniel Keeley. He was married to the love of his life, Frances Lynn Adams Keeley.
Dan grew up as a Methodist preacher’s son in Stuttgart, Hope, Malvern, Forrest City, and Blytheville, AR. He graduated from Blytheville High School in 1966 and from Arkansas State University with a master’s degree in business. He served in the United States Army, and he began his career at Eli Lilly and Company. After a couple of years, he decided to explore investment banking and took his first position at Simmons Bank in Pine Bluff. He went on to fill positions at Dean Witter Reynolds, National Bank of Commerce, First Commercial Bank, and developed the Little Rock branch of Vining Sparks Investment Banking Group, where he served as Senior Vice President for many years. Dan then became a personal financial advisor, eventually landing at J.D. Mellberg Financial, which he truly enjoyed. Dan also enjoyed serving the church on the board of stewards, as Sunday school teacher, van driver, and usher for many years.
Dan spent the last 48 years doting on his wife, loving and raising his kids, and absolutely adoring his grandchildren. He would pick up little treats for his friends, family, strangers, and even the dog, and delight in their joy in that gift. He was known for his sense of humor, telling stories about friends and family, and his animated expressions. He had a big heart and a big faith in God. He will be missed everyday in this earthly lifetime, but by his faith, his family knows they will live on with him in the next.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Lynn Adams Keeley, son, Daniel Adams Keeley, daughter, Brook Keeley Medina, son-in-law, Marco Antonio Medina, granddaughter, Etchieson Lourdes Medina, grandson, Marco Adam Keeley Medina, sister, Judy Keeley Bailey, brother-in-law, Gerry Bailey, niece, Gini Holladay, and nephew, Bobby Joe Morgan.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions by the church, the family has opted for a small, family-only service at Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church on Saturday, May 22nd at 2:00 pm. For those who would like to participate virtually, the service will be available for both live and later viewing on the church’s Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/pulaskiheightsunitedmethodisthcurch. The family will consider an all-inclusive reception at a later date. It is requested that any contributions go to Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.
