Verlean Marie Hooper (Boo) was born February 28, 1953, to the union of the late Vernon and Girlean Robinson-Hooper in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas with her family as a young child.
Verlean accepted Christ at an early age in the house of the Lord in Natchitoches. Verlean received her formal education in the Hot Springs School District in 1971. She was employed with ICM, as a DPS. She was dedicated to her work of taking care of her family and others.
Verlean Hooper departed this life on Saturday, January 19, 2019. She was preceded by her siblings; Norma Lee Robinson-Johnson, Johnnie (Rose) Robinson-Jones, Craig Robinson, and John Hooper.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her fiancé, Billie Evans; her three children, Angela Byrd (Kenneth, Sr.), Gary Hooper, and Lyndrell Hooper all of Hot Springs, AR; three grandchildren, KorTasia Evans (Ryan) of Sherwood, AR, and Kenneth Byrd, Jr. of Hot Springs, AR and, Kendria Byrd (Lance) of Little Rock, AR; three great-grandchildren, Londyn Evans, Khloe Evans, and Seneca Nolen, Jr; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Kenneth Byrd, Sr., Kenneth Byrd, Jr., Ryan Evans, Dominic McAfee, Stephon Watt and Ronnie McAfee.
Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23 at Gross Funeral Home. A celebration of Verlean’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at Gross Funeral Home with Rev. Patrick Timmons officiating.
Burial to follow at Hollywood Cemetery.
