Victoria Eugenia Zimmerman, age 81, of Hot Springs, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019. She was born on May 25, 1938 in Chillan, Chile, the daughter of the late Enrique Corral and Alicia Ramos Corral. She was a graduate of the British School Dunalastair. In 1957, she was married in Chile to the late Marine Wallace Southall. The two then moved to the United States where they welcomed their two daughters, Victoria and Alicia. The two parted ways and she and her daughters moved back to Chile where she later met her second husband, Kenneth Zimmerman. After spending many years in Brazil, the family moved to Texas in 1975. Victoria and Kenneth retired to Hot Springs Village in 1984.
She will be remembered for being the radiant “hostess with the mostest,” always entertaining guests and blessing others with her gift of hospitality. She also loved card games, word puzzles, and murder mysteries. When she wasn’t entertaining, traveling the world, and telling great stories, she selflessly volunteered at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center. She knew how to enjoy life and lived well. She was unapologetically herself, unconditionally loving, and unwaveringly loyal. As beautiful and vibrant as she was, she was equally intelligent, witty, giving, and compassionate.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Kenneth Zimmerman; one brother, Ricardo Corral; and one sister, Enriqueta Corral.
Left to celebrate her legacy of kindness and grace are her two daughters, Victoria Gerber and Alicia Larsen; one son, Kenneth Zimmerman; and four grandchildren, Cassandra Gerber, Claire Larsen, Ian Larsen, and Alexander Zimmerman.
Victoria’s Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Gross Funeral Home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to her family of friends who cared for her all these years in Hot Springs.
