Wynell was born in Shreveport, LA, May 11, 1940. She is predeceased by her father, John Dee Willard, stepmother, Georgia Vee Meeks Willard and her taken much too soon mother, Helen Johnson Willard. Wynell lost her mother when she was 10. She is survived by her husband, Tim Goldman, brother Major John Dee Willard II, two children, 9 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. In every role she worked to be the best. She was.
Her two children, DeeVee Deen Pearson (Mark) and Douglas Reeves Deen (Ramona) were a constant source of pride. There was a sense of urgency in how she raised her children, perhaps a fear that she too would pass from this world early in life like her mother did. DeeVee and Doug were quick learners; both strong, capable and independent.
Without any prospects other than pure faith, she married an unproven and unfinished man. From family to neighbors to casual observers, no one was betting our marriage had a chance. They were wrong, we had 51 years of love, adventures, laughter, career relocations, homes in 7 different states; and a wonderful life without loneliness or boredom. "It was quite the party."
Wynell was my sunshine. She was steadfast, relentless in doing right, always fair and just. She was generous beyond measure.
Wynell was so creative. She was a master seamstress. Our homes were filled with her art and good taste. She was a tremendous hostess. Getting invited to her parties was special. And the amazing thing, she was self taught.
Her canvass was humor, sassiness and a witty mouth. If you didn't enjoy her company, it was your loss. My associates, customers and friends loved her. She was my greatest asset. With her the impossible was possible. Everyone should have such a cheerleader.
I know the world is less today for everyone that loved her. Her 9 grandchildren, her 6 great-grandchildren and her countless friends, golfing buddies, Bridge partners and neighbors feel the loss of her passing. Wynell entertained us all. My Baby was the strongest person I will ever know or love. She was my champion.
The family asks for your prayers and privacy as we navigate this unfathomable loss.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis in memory of Wynell.
