

Alton Johnson, Sr., 67, a native and resident of Terrebonne Parish, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 7:05 a.m. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, at Jones Funeral Home Chapel in Houma and from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at the church on Wednesday. The Funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. on August 14, 2013 at Moses Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Halfway Cemetery. He is survived by: his wife, Ann Avery-Johnson; four sons, Alton, Jr. (Dale Marie), Torrell (Shanel), Troy (Cherita), and Hayes (Crystal) Johnson; four daughters, Darlene J. (Melvin, Jr.) Payne, Amy J. (Maurice) Matthews, Mary Merlene White, and Deanna Lyons; three brothers, Kenneth, Sr. (Rose) and Darryl Johnson, and Isaac (Bertha) Riley; three sisters, Gerald Jeff, Linda Joseph and Sheila Johnson; twenty-nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Henderson, Jr. and Esther C. Johnson; five brothers, Wilfred Clark, Earle Lloyd, Cleveland, Sr., and Clyde Johnson, Sr. and Johnell Saulsberry; and godchild, Kim Every Armont.
