Alvin Brooks

this life after a lengthy illness on

Thursday, Dec. 19, 2024. He was 85

years old, a native of Houma, LA

and a resident of Oakland, CA.

He was educated in Terrebonne

Parish and graduated from St. Lucy

in 1957. He graduated from Southern

University in 1962 and enlisted in the

Army Reserves. After discharge from

the Army Reserve, he moved to Oakland,

CA. Furthering his education, he received

a Masters Degree from Pepperdine University.

He was an educator in the Oakland Unified

School District for 31 years. Retiring in

2001 as an Assistant Principal.

He was preceded in death by his parents,

grandparents, siblings: Bettye B. Matthews,

Jimmie Wolfe Jr, Carl Brooks, Virginia B. Mitchell,

Elaine B. Seymore, and Sheldon W. Morrison.

He leaves to cherish his memory his fiance’,

Joann Seaver, his siblings: Gale P. Clark,

Ethel P. Mathews, Linda B. Burke, and

Russell Brooks. A host of nieces, nephews,

cousins, family and friends.

Visitation Hour will begin at 9:00 a.m. followed

by the religious service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday,

Jan. 11, 2025 at Jones Funeral Home,

230 S. Hollywood Road, Houma, LA.

Burial will follow in St Francis De Sales #2 Cemetery
