Ashley Michele Coleman

October 6, 1986 – August 1, 2026
Obituary of Ashley Michele Coleman
IN THE CARE OF

Jones Funeral Home

Ashley Michele Coleman, affectionately known as “ Shaley”, transitioned from her earthly home on August 1, 2026 at the age of 39.

Born on October 6, 1986 in Houma, Ashley was the oldest daughter of Stevie Lynn Coleman and Lorraine Beauty Coleman. She grew up in a household filled with love, faith, music and sports. In her youth, she accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized at Dularge Community Baptist Church by the late Rev. Gilbert Parker Sr. This is where her passion for singing developed and where she became vocally inclined to sing both Soprano and Alto. She later shared those talents in local choirs, as well as junior high and high school choirs.

Ashley was a natural when it came to sports. Basketball, track and soccer is what she excelled in. Always playing with heart, intensity and fire. She attended H.L. Bourgeois High school, graduated from Terrebonne High School and L.E. Fletcher Technical Community College.

Ashley loved dancing. Her movements were eyecatching. You felt her passion for the art. She always spoke of her vision of owning her own dance studio. She was truly a “ Jane of all trades.” During her personal time, she loved smash sessions on her drums. She loved styling hair. She was famous for creating a hairbow hairstyle with her natural hair. That style was her signature and she wore it well. She was a person of many jokes. Her laughter caused a chain reaction. And if you weren’t laughing, she would get closer to you and laugh in your face while tapping you to make sure you joined in on the fun. Her favorite saying was, “I betcha!” She loved family and gathering with family. Her Mommy was her everything. Her children were her heartbeats. Her sisters were her strength and her Daddy was her Hero.

She leaves to cherish her precious memory her devoted parents, Lorraine Beauty Coleman and Stevie Lynn Coleman, her loving children, Shalayia My’Kale Coleman and Ashton Mykole Coleman, her beloved sisters, Jessica Lachelle Coleman and Stephanie Lyn Coleman, her Paternal grandmother, Audrey Chatman Williams, her godmother, Katherine Beauty Beamon, her niece, Sunnie Dream Davis and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Mable Westley Beauty and Melvin Beauty Sr. Her great-grandparents, Rebecca and Eddie Westley Sr., Hattie and Nixon Beauty. Her paternal grandparents, Lester Williams, Napoleon Carson, her great-grandparents, Lillie Cook and Hosea Chatman, Rufus (Jake) Carson and Mattie Mae Bradlesy Carson.
