Bernard Evans Carter, Sr., 58, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Bourg, died Monday, May 12, 2014 at 1:52 a.m. at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Residence Baptist Church. The funeral will be at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Union Benevolent (St. John) Cemetery. He is survived by: his wife, Lois Foote-Carter; a daughter, Nykea (Nikki) Carter; a son, Bernard E. Carter, Jr.; his mother, Bernadine Hartman-Carter; a sister, Jearnee' (Stephen) Carter-McGuin; three brothers, Gregory, Torrey and Charles Carter, IV; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Sarah Michelle Carter; his father, Charles Carter, III; paternal grandparents, Charles and Martha Carter; maternal grandparents, Earl, Sr. and Beatrice Lagarde-Hartman; and a brother, Wendell Carter, Sr. Jones Funeral Home of Houma in charge of arrangements.
