Bruce Wolfe was born on February 4, 1953, to the late Sarah Harris Wolfe and Square Wolfe II. At an early age, Bruce was confirmed at St. Lucy Catholic Church. He attended St. Lucy Catholic School before transferring to Terrebonne High School, where he was an avid football player and graduated with the Class of 1972.
On November 15, 1975, Bruce married the love of his life, Catherine Short. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, faith, and cherished memories.
After high school, Bruce developed a passion for butchering, learning alongside some of the elder members of the community where he lived. Through dedication, hard work, and years of experience, he became a skilled master butcher. Bruce proudly made butchering his career for more than 45 years, working with Winn-Dixie and Rouses Supermarkets.
Bruce acknowledged a need for salvation and was baptized at Living Gospel Church by the late Bishop D. L. Jones. In 2009, under the pastoral leadership of Reginald Glispy, Bruce received the gift of the Holy Ghost.
Bruce was a devoted family man who also had a special passion for football. On Sundays, you could hardly beat him watching a Saints game. He was a Number ONE Saints Fan and proudly bled Black and Gold—even through the Brown Bag seasons. His love for the New Orleans Saints was just one of the many things that brought him joy.
On September 6, 2026, Bruce passed from death to life at East Jefferson Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, hard work, laughter, and devotion to his family.
Bruce leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 51 years, Catherine S. Wolfe; his children, Tara Wolfe and Marlon (Helena) Wolfe; his grandson, Joshua Emmanuel Wolfe; his sisters, Dorothy (William) Saffold and Velma Barquet; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends, and loved ones.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Sarah Harris Wolfe and Square Wolfe II; his siblings, Vincent Square, Square III, Roy Sr., Roland Sr., Donald Sr., Raymond Sr., Bernard, Charles, Jerome, Milton Sr., and Sheila Wolfe; his paternal grandparents, Square Sr. and Sarah Picou Wolfe; and his maternal grandparents, William and Harriet Picou.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until Celebration of Life at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at The Living Gospel 140 Corporate Drive Houma, Louisiana. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
