

Carl ""CJ"" Richard, Jr., age 18, a native and a resident of New Iberia died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at Lafayette General in Lafayette at 8:30 AM. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Fletcher Funeral Home Chapel in New Iberia, La., from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Rosary reciting at 7:00 PM., Visitation Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at Fletcher Funeral Home at 8:00 AM until 10:00 AM., Funeral Service will be at St. Edwards Catholic Church in New Iberia, La., at 11:00 AM. Interment in Hope Cemetery in Jeanerette, La. Carl Richard, Jr. was born on November 15, 1994 in Iberia Parish to Carl, Sr. and Ava Richard. Carl, Jr., lovingly called C.J., was the third born and the youngest child of the family. C.J. attended schools in Iberia Parish where he actively participated in sports, competitively and recreationally for many years. He played Little League Baseball, Iberia Youth Football, and he was a Louisiana Certified Soccer Referee and a NIRD Summer Counselor. As a teenager C.J. became an active member of the St. Edwards Catholic Church Youth Group. His role of Jesus Christ in the Passion Play was inspirational to him and his family as they remember him reciting and practicing his part for the Good Friday Service. As a Senior at New Iberia Senior High School, CJ was a member of the school's Spirit and Prom Committee. He really looked forward to working with his classmates on these committees. CJ loved people and he loved spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed sharing messages and words through texting, playing the X Box and just sitting around and talking. C.J. leaves to remember and cherish his memories: his parents; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Richard, Sr. (Carl and Ava), two sisters; Angela and A'Caila Richard, two nieces; Makyli and Makynzi Green, one Godchild; Dylan Green, all of New Iberia, Louisiana, his maternal grandparents; Elizabeth and Milton Joseph, Jr. of Jeanerette, Louisiana and his Godparents: Dr. Rev. Darren Sophus, Sr., Ms. Shirley Haggray, Mr. Stanley Haggray, Jr. and Ms. Dedra Smith. C.J. also leaves Javonna and John Walker, Sr. of Savannah Georgia, his biological grandparents, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many many friends including his special friends; Trevor Jolivette, Allisson LaSalle, Brianna Sanders, Brice Jones and Bryce Broussard. C.J. was preceded in death by: his Great Grandparents; Bertha and Solomon Richard, Mary and Felix Gilbert, Leola and Louis Lockette, Grandparents; Joyce and Abraham Richard, Griffin Paul Williams, Sr., Uncles; Donald and Solomon Richard,Griffin Jr., and Darrel Williams, one Aunt; Bertha Richard and cousins; Tywanda and Tyrone Brown, Seante Haggray and Samuel Udomeh.
