

Charley "Zip" Walker Sr., 83, a native of Schriever, La and a resident of Thibodaux, Louisiana, peacefully departed earth on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 8:30 AM. Charley was born on July 3, 1941 in Schriever, Louisiana, to the late Mable Winslow Walker and Clifford “Billy” Walker Sr.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025 from 9:00 AM until Funeral Service at 11:00 AM at New Magnolia Baptist Church in Schriever, Louisiana. Burial services will follow at Garden of Memories in Gray, Louisiana.
Charley Sr. was a graduate of Southdown High School. After serving three years in the United States Navy, Charley was a supervisor at Caro for over 20 years. He was a deacon at New Magnolia Baptist Church in Schriever, Louisiana. He loved to fish, hunt, and play dominos. He was an avid Saint's football fan.
Charley Sr. is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Betty O'Banner Walker; his sons, Charley (Kannika) Walker, British Walker, Sheldon (Gloria) Walker; his daughter Yuschica Walker; his son Kaylon White, his grandchildren, British James, Eureka (Reginald) Fletcher, Montique Williams, Euneka Walker, Tajai McCollum, Alizai Walker, Keiondre' Hill, Avantae Walker Pollard, Tracy Jonhson, and Shaila (Zane) Gray; ten great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter. He also leaves behind his sister, Mable Smith, a host of relatives and friends who will miss his warm smile and gentle spirit.
Charley Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford “Billy” Walker Sr. and Mable Winslow Walker; brother, Clifford Walker Jr.; paternal grandparents, Lemuel Walker and Elmira Ross Walker; and his maternal grandparents, Charlie Winslow and Jane Howard Winslow.
Charley will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and loved ones.
