Chester Short

Chester Short, age 68, a native and a resident of Gibson, La., died Thursday, November 22, 2012 at 9:16 am at Terrebonne General Medical Center in Houma. Visitation will be Saturday, December 1, 2012 at St. Luke Baptist Church, 3755 Waterproof Dr. (Bayou Black) in Houma, La., from 10:00 AM until funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Chester leaves to cherish his memories; four sons, Dwayne James of Thibodaux, La., Terry Short and Allen Short both of Texas., and Cleveland Sims, Sr., of Hampton, GA; one daughter, Ashley Sims of Gibson, La., a stepdaughter, Shari Maze of Morgan City, La; four brothers, Sterling Short of Houma, La., Lee Andrew Short and Bernard Gibson both of Gibson, La., and Clarence Short, Jr., of Kentwood, La; four sisters, Rose Waters and Cedonia Chapman both Gibson, La., Lillie Williams and Vella Stewart both of Houma, La; fourteen grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Chester was preceded in death by his wives, Gloria Ray Short and Gerry Allen Short, his parents, Clarence and Leola Short; two brothers, John Neal Short and Rennorh Short; two sisters, Yvonne Boykin and Lucille Sneeze.
