A Life of Love, Service & Family

Dianne Marie “Dot” Burrell was born on December 16, 1967, to the late Charles Burrell Sr. and Emma Dell Burrell. A lifelong resident of Gray, Louisiana, Dianne planted her roots along Highway 24 and Burrell Court, where she built a beautiful life centered around family, service, community, and love.

On August 10, 2026, at the age of 58, Dianne peacefully transitioned from this earthly life while in the hospital, surrounded by her beloved children.

Dianne was truly a people person with a heart of gold. She never met a stranger. If you spent any amount of time around her, chances are you quickly became family. She possessed a genuine spirit of generosity and lived a life of service not because she expected recognition, but simply because caring for others was who she was.

She accepted Christ at a young age being baptized at Mt. Olive Baptist Church by A. J. Pharr. Dianne was a graduate of H.L. Bourgeois High School. She furthered her education by attending USL. Her dedication to serving others was reflected throughout her working years. Dianne was employed with Terrebonne General Medical Center for 20 years in the Environmental Services Department. She later spent six years at United Methodist as a childcare provider, where her loving, nurturing, and caring spirit continued to touch the lives of others.

Dianne leaves to cherish her precious memory her five beloved children, Michelle Burrell, Nadia Burrell, Mariah Burrell George (Mark), Ny’Ria Burrell, and Jayden Burrell; and her four cherished grandchildren, Ne’Veah, Saige, Azyren, and Arielle.

She also leaves to cherish her memory her brothers, Robert Brown (Ezella), Charles Burrell Jr., and Pastor Christopher Burrell Sr. (Kelly); Tige Wesley (Kisha); and her sisters, Ethel Dick, Beverly Burrell, Kathy Burrell Coleman (Frederick Coleman) and Rhonda Declouet (Daniel) and Bernita Baptiste Jones. Dianne held a special place in her heart for her godchildren, Cliffion, Keoka, Marquel, Noah, and Christopher Jr.

She further leaves to cherish her memory a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, neighbors, friends, and the many people whose lives she touched and who lovingly knew her as “T Dot.”

Dianne was preceded in death by her father, Charles Burrell Sr.; her mother, Emma Dell Burrell; her maternal grandmother, Lucille Hazley (Silas Brown); her maternal grandfather, Robert W. Brown; her paternal grandparents, Junis and Ella Burrell Sr.; her beloved nieces, CiCi Dick, Alycee Burrell, and Elycee Burrell; and her brother-in-law, Louis Dick Jr.

Her presence, her meals, her caretaking, her kindness, and the love she poured so freely into others will forever be missed. But the life she lived and the legacy she created will forever be appreciated and carried on through the generations and countless lives she touched. Her seat may be empty, but the love she placed around the table will remain forever
