

Born on May 2, 1951, to Abraham Simon, Sr. and Juanita Alexander Simon, she entered the world surrounded by love and the promise of a life that would touch many hearts. Dora was a native of Jeanerette, Louisiana and a resident of Houma, Louisiana since 1973; her life was rooted in faith, family, service, and education. She was a proud Salutatorian and graduate of Francis Marion Boley High School, Class of ‘69, and later earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Grambling College, Class of ‘73. Her years at Grambling created lifelong friendships and a deep love for her alma mater, which she continued to support through her involvement with the Grambling Alumni of Terrebonne-Lafourche Chapter.
Dora dedicated her professional life to helping others through her work as a Case Manager with the Louisiana Department of Health & Hospitals, from which she retired after many years of faithful and compassionate service.
Dora accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age and lived as a devoted woman of faith. As a longtime faithful member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Houma, Louisiana, she deeply cherished her church family and lived her life guided by kindness, grace, and a steadfast, unwavering love for others.
Dora leaves to cherish her precious memories her devoted husband of 52 years, Gary Lee Little, affectionately known as “T-Boy”; her loving daughter, Devona LeAnne Nicholas (Merrick) of Avondale, Louisiana; her loving son, Corey Michael Little (KellyAnn) of Baytown, Texas; and her beloved grandson, Shaun Michael Nicholas of Avondale, Louisiana.
She is also survived by her brother, Abraham Simon, Jr. (Brenda) of Beaufort, South Carolina; her godson, Taurean Simon (Tameisha) of Columbia, South Carolina; her bonus sisters, Cornelia Acentha Slaughter of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Ruby Mitchell (Raymond) of Jeanerette, Louisiana; maternal aunts, Lou Mary Broussard of Jeanerette, Louisiana, Lou Myrtle Slaughter of Jeanerette, Louisiana, and Josie Breaux of New Orleans, Louisiana; maternal uncles, King Alexander, Jr. of Jeanerette, Louisiana, and Albert Allen Alexander (Diane) of Franklin, Louisiana; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, dear friends, church family, and classmates whose lives she touched deeply.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Abraham Simon, Sr. and Juanita Alexander Simon; her sister, Martha Diane Yancy; her godson, Donavar Yancy, III; her maternal grandparents, Rev. King Alexander, Sr., Martha Carol Alexander, and Josephine Alexander; and her paternal grandparents, Abraham Simon and Dora Leblanc Hopes.
Visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home, 230 S Hollywood Rd., Houma, LA 70360, on May 14, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, and also at Welsey United Methodist Church, 501 Canal St, Houma, LA 70360, on May 15, 2026, from 9:00 am to 9:45 am.
