Elton Edwards

Elton Edwards, age 90, a resident of Jeanerette, La., died Monday, October 6, 2014, at Post Acute Medical Center in Lafayette, La., at 10:40 AM. Elton was a veteran of The United States Army, serving during World War II. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M., on Friday October 10, 2014 at the Mount Calvary Baptist Church 215 Nolan Duchane Drive Jeanerette, LA 70544. Masonic Rights will be conducted prior to funeral services at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Jones Officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Calvary Church Cemetery in Jeanerette, La with Military Honors. Elton leaves to cherish his memories; his loving wife, Ruby Lee Edwards of Jeanerette, La.,; one son, Kerry James(Janice) Edwards of Abbeville, La.; four daughters, Elaine Edwards(Charlie) Handy of Baton Rouge, La., Marjorie Nell (Leroy) Harris of Oklahoma City, Ok., Tarajee Christine Aleem of New Orleans, La., and Jacquelyn Faye Davis of Jeanerette, La.; a son-in-law, Samuel Williams of Baldwin, La.; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Edwards was preceded in death by: his parents, Edmond Edwards, Sr. and Mary Johnson-Edwards; one son, Willie B. Edwards; two daughters, Geraldine Edwards-Williams and Diana Edwards-Preston; two brothers, Lawrence Edwards and Edmond Edwards and two sisters, Beatrice Edwards Clavelle and Elease Edwards Clavelle.
