Emelda "MaMel" Stringer

The public viewing will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 3076 W. Main Street, Gray, LA 70359. Entombment will follow in the New Rising Sun Baptist Church Cemetery.

She is survived by her son, Joshua Hayes (Alicia); daughters, Cassandra M. Cooks (Mike), Elisha Brooks (James) and Felicia Richard; brothers, Earl Ray Mitchell, Larry Mitchell (Gloria), Don Craig Mitchell (Patsy) and Gregory B. Mitchell (Gwen); sisters, Susanne M. Harris (Nolan), Arline Mitchell, Valerie Campbell (George) and Dr. Veronica M. Thomas; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Quentin McGuin; parents, Joshua, Jr. and Georgiana Jackson Mitchell; Joshua, Sr. and Martha Bickham Mitchell; maternal grandparents, Mitchel and Cecilia Watson Jackson.
