Gail Marie Wolfe

On Saturday, November 23, 2024 at 12:10 p.m., God welcomed Gail into His Heavenly home.

Visitation on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1100 Bourbon St., Thibodaux, LA from 8:00 am to Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am.

Gail was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, earning a BA in Sociology from the University of New Orleans (LSU) and a Master of Social Work from Southern University, New Orleans. Her professional life included working for the Lafourche Juvenile Justice Facility in the group home, and the Office of Community Service (currently the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services) as a foster care case manager, an adoption specialist, supervisor of specialized foster homes, foster care and family services supervisor, regional program specialist and child welfare expert/consultant. In 1998, Gail was named Social Worker of the Year for the State of Louisiana by the National Association of Social Workers.

After retirement in 2011, Gail began volunteering at the American Cancer Society’s Resource Center in the Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center. Shortly after, Gail began working full-time again at the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center at TGMC and opened an LLC, which provided contract counseling and support services to residents in local nursing homes. After her second retirement, she enjoyed fishing with her husband, traveling, reading and working in her flower garden.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Milton M. Wolfe, Jr.; her son, Robert M. Gathen; grandchildren: Andru M. Gathen and Evan M. Gathen; siblings: Bernard L. Jackson, Jr., Kathleen J. Givens, Kenneth M. Jackson, Anita L. Jackson, Beverly J. Thibodaux, Germaine T. Jackson and Donna M. Jackson; sisters-in-law: Josephine W. Jackson, Lynette W. Celestin and Karen Wolfe; brother-in-law: Malcolm T. Wolfe; step-children: Alissa T. Harmason, Tiawan Jackson and Bernard Stove, Sr.; seven aunts; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents: Bernard L. Sr. and Madeline S. Jackson; grandmothers: Esther A. Shanklin and Mary P. Jackson and father-in-law: Milton M. Wolfe, Sr.
