Geraldine “Dean” Lyons Miller
September 5, 1939 – October 25, 2026
Geraldine “Dean” Lyons Miller was born on September 5, 1939, to the union of Abe Lyons and Maggie Aubert Lyons. On October 25, 2026, God, in His infinite wisdom, called His beloved daughter home, bringing her earthly journey to a peaceful close at the age of 87.
A Life Rooted in Faith and Service
Geraldine accepted Christ at a very early age and was baptized at New Zion Baptist Church by the late Reverend Wilbert J. Danks. Her faith remained an important part of her life as she served the Lord and her church family. In her early years, she was a member of the church choir before joining the Usher Board, where she faithfully served for many years. Through her commitment and dedication, Geraldine demonstrated her love for God and her church community.
She received her early education in the Terrebonne Parish School System, attending Southdown High School. Geraldine believed in the importance of hard work and dedicated 31 years of service to the Terrebonne Parish School System as a Food Technician at South Terrebonne High School. Through her years of employment, she touched lives and served others with dedication.
A Woman of Love and Warmth
Geraldine found great joy in cooking and beautifying her home. These passions reflected her loving spirit and her desire to make those around her feel welcomed and cared for. Her home was a place where love could be shared, memories could be made, and family remained at the center of everything.
On January 6, 1971, Geraldine was united in holy matrimony to the late John L. Miller. Their union was blessed with one amazing son, Derrick Abraham Miller. Geraldine cherished her family deeply and took great pride in the love they shared.
One of her greatest joys in life was her family, especially her two beautiful granddaughters, Tia and Asia Miller, who held a very special place in her heart. The love she had for them was precious and enduring, and the memories they created together will forever be treasured.
Geraldine will be remembered for her faith, her dedication to her family, her years of service, and the love she so freely shared with those around her. Though her earthly presence will be deeply missed, the impact of her life and the memories she leaves behind will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
