Gladys was preceded in death by her husband, Jasper "Good Buddy” Williams Sr., her parents, Roger Stevenson and Idella Stevenson; daughter, Brenda Ann Williams-Nelson; sons, Jasper Williams Jr. and Joshua Williams; sister, Isadora Stevenson Williams; brothers, Manny Emanuel and Albert Stevenson; brother-in-law, Joseph Williams Sr.; son-in-law, Alton Clay Jr.; and her grandparents, Ben and Elizabeth Steel.
She is survived by her daughters; Brenda Lee Williams of Schriever, LA, Barbara Ann Williams of Bayou Blue, LA, Belinda Lee Clay of Gray, LA, and Loretta Texas Barabin of Gray, LA.; her brother, Allen Stevenson of Thibodaux, LA, and her sisters, Mary M. Stevenson of New Orleans, LA, and Ruby Poindexter (Melvin) of Gibson, LA.; her sister-in-law, Debrah Stevenson of Amelia, LA. Granny Girl as she was called will also be missed by her 17 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Idella found joy in reading her Bible, listening to gospel music, completing word search puzzle books, sewing, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her gentle spirit and kind-hearted nature touched the lives of many.
The visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home, located at 230 S Hollywood Rd., Houma, LA 70360, on November 21, 2025, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at the same location, beginning at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Halfway Cemetery in Gray, LA.
