Hilda Mary Franklin

Mother Hilda Mary Hughes  Franklin, 99, a resident of Morgan City, LA and native of Patterson, LA passed away on Saturday November 19, 2016 at 9:20 PM at the Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Lafayette, LA. 

Viewing will be held on Monday November 28, 2016 at the New Zorah Baptist Church 604 Julia Street Morgan City, LA from 3:00 PM until the beginning of the Fraternal Order of the Eastern Star services at 5:00 P. M. An Evening Celebration celebrating the life of Mother Hilda H. Franklin will begin at 6:00 PM at the church.

Viewing will resume on Tuesday November 29, 2016 from 9:00 AM until Dismissal Services beginning at 10:00 AM. Mother Franklin will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery in Morgan City, LA following the dismissal services. 

Memories of "Mother Dear", as she was known to her family, will forever remain in the hearts of her two loving and devoted daughters, Barbara Ann Franklin Henderson and her husband, Reverend Thomas J. Henderson of Upper Marlboro, MD and Lois Elaine Franklin Jones of Patterson, LA; one grandson, Shawn Franklin and his wife, Tiffany of Shreveport, LA; three granddaughters, Charmyn Henderson of Laurel, MD, Dr. Sherry Maragh and her husband, Dr. Marlon of Potomac, MD and Keisha Jones of Layfayette, LA; eleven great-grandchildren, Farrah Maragh, Ivy Maragh, Maxwell Maragh, Taylor Franklin, Rashaun Richards, Chiara Jones, Jorden Green, Shawn Franklin, II, Tyler Jones, Brie Jones and Ti'anna Franklin; one great-great grandchild, Marlie Franklin; two devoted nieces, Edwina Nelson of Chicago, IL and Beverly Morse of Morgan City, LA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, Sterling and Pamelia Gash Hughes; one grandson, Coye Wayne Franklin; one brother, Morris Hughes and two sisters, Stella H. Harrington and Minerva H. Young.
