Ida Mae Brooks

Ida Mae Brooks, age 86, a native of Memphis, TN., and a resident of Patterson, La., died January 26, 2013 at her residence in Patterson, La., at 7:25 AM. Visitation will be Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Good Hope Baptist Church from 9:00 AM until funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Shield Cemetery. Ida leaves to cherish her memories; a son, Wayne Gant and his wife Tina of Patterson, La; four daughters, Crystal Gant and Lisa Darnall both of Patterson, La., Juanita Brooks of Houston, TX., and Linda Gant of Franklin, La; three brothers, Leroy Gant of Patterson, La., Calvin Gant of Chicago, IL., and Eddie Gant of Chicago, Il; four sister, Hattie and her husband Otis Porter, Pearlie Howze and Debra Gant all of Memphis, TN., Carolyn Gant of Texas; twenty-two grandchildren, forty-two great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and a host of relatives and friends. Ida was preceded in death by her father, James Gant, Sr., her mother, Ida P. Gant, a grandson, DesDrain Gant, nine sisters, nine brothers, five children, Shirley, Melvin, Glenn, James and Beverly. Ida was a mother to so many others. Everyone that needed help in one way or another she was there for them. Ida had a very big heart and caring soul.
