

The Journey… Joyce Ann proclaimed her belief in Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized at an early age and was baptized by the late Rev. JH Thompson at Residence Baptist Church. Joyce received her education through the Terrebonne Parish School District, she was known for her blunt and direct demeanor, but more so for the unwavering love for a lot of her family, friends and loved ones.
She and He said I do… Joyce Ann met Benjamin Williams, and it was obvious that she was the apple of his eye. They entered Holy Matrimony in 1967. During this marriage, Joyce and Benjamin Sr., became the proud parents of two children, Benjamin Jr and Monica. Joyce became a loving and nurturing mother. God enabled this marriage to grow and persevere 51 years. It is filled with many precious, loving, and beautiful memories.

Her Life in the Family… It is obvious and a well-known fact that Joyce loved her family. Joyce enjoyed spending time with family and friends and was always on the go. She shared an undeniable special relationship with great granddaughter, Naziri or as she would say “Ne Ne”. Joyce worked for Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office as a Crossing Guard, ensuring the safety for children at South Terrebonne High School. Joyce enjoyed attending the Senior Center at Mechanicville Gym, she even would crochet and donate Afghan blankets, as gifts for monthly drawings, Joyce enjoyed fishing, camping, playing Bingo, spades, dominoes, going on cruises, traveling and zip lining among other things to say the least. Joyce loved adventure, loved being with family and friends and would do anything to help someone in need. She was the trail ride queen. She also enjoyed long conversations with her friends the late Beverly Fusilier and her cousin the late Ruby Nell Stovall. Oh, I bet they are talking up a storm right now having a grand ole time.
Her Legacy… Joyce entered in eternal rest on January 16, 2025, Joyce was summoned to the pearly white gated and departed from the flesh and gained her wings, to convene and carry out her mission with God. She was preceded in death by her husband, Benjamín J. Williams, parents Wesley Nixon III, and Sadie Pearl Carvin Nixon, paternal grandparents; Wesley Nixon Sr. and Elizabeth Sims Nixon, maternal grandparents ; Warren Carvin and Stewart, siblings; Herman Carvin Nixon, Wesley Nixon IV, Rosalee Simon Williams, Delores Holiday, Jerry Lee Price and Missionary Ellen Jones, one grandson; Derek Henry Jr. And granddaughter; Baby Mia Williams, one God child Sheila K. Smith.
Loving and tender memories will forever remain as precious diamonds sealed in a treasure chest in the hearts of her family and loved ones, She leaves to cherish her legacy her children; Benjamin Williams Jr. and his fiancé Loring DeShotel of Lafayette, LA and Monica Williams-Folse and Joseph Williams of Houma, LA, 14 grandchildren; Schwann, Paris, Brittiany, Nakeshia, Terrell, Divante’, Amiyah, Aliyah, Brent, Gracelynn, Caleb, Jovante, Jaiden and Savannah, 10 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, one brother; Christopher A. Nixon and wife, of Houma, LA, one sister; Alice G. Nixon of Shreveport, LA, one aunt; Mary B. Nixon, God child; Penny N. Stewart and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, her companion; Robert James Sr.
