Leroy ""Pete"" Davis, Jr. age 73, a resident & native of Morgan City, La., died Thurs; April 2, 2009 @ 6:35 PM @ Teche Regional Medical Center in Morgan City, following a long illness. Visitation was held Wed; April 8th @ Walmsley United Methodist Church from 10:00 AM - 12:30 Pm, Funeral Service was held @ The St. Mary parish AARP Senior Center for 1:00 PM, Interment in the Morgan City Cemetery He was a Veteran of the United States Army, a bus driver for the St. Mary Parish School Board for 35 yrs., as well as with the Tri City Helping Hearts of Morgan City, worked at Regions Bank fro 17 yrs, and Holy Cross elem. for 12 yrs. all while building great friendship with a number of colleagues and co-workers. Pete served on the Administration Board, finance Committe, and The Board od Trustees @ Walmsley United Methodist Church; he also presided over the United Methodist Men's organization there. Leroy leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife of 53 years; Jacqueline Johnson Davis of Morgan City, four daughters; Joslyn Parker Anderson(Kevin) of Ocean Springs, Ms., Zelda Davis Todd (Jason), Jeanine Davis Escort(Thaddeus), and Denise Davis Beltran (Ismael) all of Thibodaux, La. a son; Eric Jon Davis (Clara) of Baton Rouge, La., adopted daughters; Pamela Naverre(Michael), Alisa Castillo(Armando)and Sandy Jackson, two sisters; Daisy Mae Madise of Morgan City and Maxine (Andrew) Triplett of San Diego, Calif., 15 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pete also leaves to cherish his memory two special friends, Wendell Bogan and Herman Hartman, Sr. Preceded in death by his parents, Alberta Campbel Davis Winston & Leroy Davis, Sr, and stepfather; Walter ""PAPA"" Winston; a great-granddaughter, D'Asia D'Aun Lee; his two sisters;Catherine Davis & Zelda Ruth Davis and a brother-in-law; Eugene Madise. Pete will be dearly missed by all who knew him; however, to live in hearts left behind is not to die. He will live on in our hearts.
