Lionel Matthews

A public viewing will be conducted from 8:00 a.m. until funeral time at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Jones Funeral Home chapel, 230 S. Hollywood Road in Houma. Per CDC requirement/ local regulations everyone is required to wear face masks in building at all times. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery. 

He is survived by his wife, Rose Sandolph Matthews; sons, Gregory and Cody (Dindi) Matthews; daughters, Tyanesha M. Garrison (James), Tamara and Trameka Matthews, April and Love Victorian; five grandchildren; brother, Robert Matthews; sister, Emelda Henry; and a host of other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Ora Calloway Matthews; brothers, Leroy Short, Bernard Calloway, Markcus, Wilbert, Hosea, Hayward and Mack O. Matthews; sisters, Yvonne Boykin, Emeline Short, Albertha Allen, Virginia Johnson and Gustavia Griffin.
