Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the Celebration of Life at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at New Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church, 146 Bank St., Houma, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Mechanicville Emanuel Baptist Church Cemetery, 2709 Percy Gabriel St., Houma, Louisiana.
Lizzie Mae leaves to cherish her memories: six daughters, Rose Marie Wright of New Orleans, Louisiana, Ophelia Juanita (John) Gaines, Gloria Ann (Joseph) Dennis, Terry Ann (Sylvester) Warren, Mary Louise Guidry, and Debbie Sue (Noel) George, all of Houma, Louisiana; one son-in-law, Hosea Stewart of Houston, Texas; 14 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Mary Thomas Gabriel of Houma, Louisiana; and one brother-in-law, John Jones of Denver, Colorado.
Lizzie Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Guidry; one daughter, Linda Diana Stewart; her parents, Rev. Matt Thomas Sr. and Mary Jasper Thomas; two sisters, Elsie Thomas Nevers and Eula Mae Thomas Jones; and ten brothers, Wilton, Matt Jr., Rev. Saulmon Sr., Jasper, Otis, Jeff, Hebert, George, and Benjamin Thomas Sr.
