Lorie was mother to 5 children and blessed with 5 grandsons. She was a hardworking mother who at times worked multiple jobs to provide for her children.
Lorie was employed as a hotel service manager, commercial driver, and security guard. Lorie was a trusted friend who shared a close bond with many people. Her flawless smile was the highlight of her effortless beauty with a personal kindness that shined everywhere she went. Lorie NEVER met a stranger! Her charismatic personality made her the life of the party and a joy to be with. If you ever came in contact with her there was going to be uproarious laughter at some point during the encounter.
Some of her hobbies included shopping, eating out at different restaurants, tailgating, enjoying New Orleans culture, conversating with friends, and spoiling her grandbaby.
Lorie is survived by her children, Geraldlyn, Darren, Jamiyah, and Alexis Short, and Jaslynn (Milton) Laurence; grandchildren, Caleb Simmons, Jordan, Chase and Mason Laurence, and Legend Hills; three brothers, Roger Moore Short, Terry Moore Short, Aaron Watson, Sr.; three sisters, Yolanda (Qunston) Coleman, Bobby Jean Robinson, and Paula Thomas; four aunts, Brenda Bonnet, Sylvia McGuire, Rosetta Watson, and Patricia Jones; one Uncle, Paul McGuire, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mildred McGuire Jenkins and James “Gene” Watson; paternal grandparents Charlie, Sr. and Cora Gates Watson; maternal grandparents, Clarence, Sr. and Mary Mitchell McGuire; and sisters, Gwendolyn Short, Mary (“P.I.”) Mitchell, and Alfreda Watson.
There may be other beauties, but there will never be another Lorie Lee Short. Lorie will be missed for her genuine loving spirit, ready assistance, and heart of gold.
