

Marlin was born on October 20, 1978, to Judy and Morris Ballard. He was baptized at an early age by Rev. James Williams. Marlin was a proud member of the H. L. Bourgeois Band, and he graduated from the Braves Class of 1996. In the Fall of 1996, Marlin began his studies at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Over the years, Marlin has had a love for music and football and hanging out with his friends.
On August 27, 2025, Marlin lost his battle with heart disease. His departure has left his family, friends, and community with heavy hearts.

Marlin leaves to cherish memories of his parents Judy Ballard (Brian Walls) and Morris Ballard. His sister Anita (Timothy) Bonvillain of Gray, La. three Aunts, Melba (Conley) Jones of Morgan City, La., Earlene Short and Gloria Bea Ballard of Gibson, La. one uncle, Hilton Young of Gibson, La. and a host of cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Marlin is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Madison and Shirley Young. His paternal grandparents Louise Brazil and Oliver Ballard Jr., four uncles, Madison Young III, Lawrence Ballard, Alton Brazil, and Theodore Ballard and a cousin, Terrance Scott.
A visitation for Marlin will be held Saturday, September 6, 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. James Baptist Church, 6319 S Bayou Black Dr, Gibson, LA 70356. Celebration of life will occur Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 11:00 AM, also at St. James Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the St. James Baptist Church Cemetery.
