Martha Linda Jones

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mrs. Martha “Linda” Jones, 76, a native of Mobile, AL and a longtime resident of Houma, LA. who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, surrounded by family.

Visitation will be conducted from 9:00 a.m. until funeral time at church. The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, July 11, 2026, at the St Luke Baptist Church, 3755 Bayou Black Drive, Houma, LA 70360. Interment will follow in the church mausoleum.

She was a retired educator with the Terrebonne Parish School system for over 30 years. She was also Vice President of the St. Luke Baptist Church Hospitality Committee and a member of the Pastor’s Aide Committee.

Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She is survived by her husband, Calvin Jones; son, Byron Gauche (Rolanda); bonus son, Patrick Vergin; daughter-in-law Armeisha Gauche; eight grandsons and four great-granddaughters; four sisters, Jeannie Simmons of Violet, LA, Ethel Dosse (Alvin, Sr.), and Mamie Brown both of Mobile, AL, Deborah Smith (Henry) of Houma; three brothers-in-law, Paul Jones, Jr., Robert Jones both of Lake

Charles, LA, and Roland Jones (Natalie) of Panama, four sisters-in-law, Rita Sterling (Larry), Marguerite Jones, Gwen Jones all of Lake Charles, LA, and Lois Green (Alonzo) of Houston, TX, three God Children; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Kami Gauche, Sr.; parents, Leona and Charlie Jackson, Sr.; in-laws, Paul, Sr. and Wanda Jones; four brothers, Charlie, Jr., Larry, Gregory, and Cedric Jackson; four brothers-in-law, Robert Simmons, Reginald Brown, Johnny Thomas, and Micheal Jones; three sisters-in-law, Helen Jackson, Evelyn Thomas and Joyce Lovett; one niece and two nephews.
