Marvin Elisha Nells

Marvin Elisha Nells is the second son of Wilfred and Gracestine Nells. Marvin was born in Houma, LA on the 28th of February 1979. With extreme sadness, Marvin passed away August 17, 2025 at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda Maryland. Marvin was a proud father to four daughters Genae Chyla Nells, Geniah Cyeira Nells, Gracie Aminata Nells & Kristen Sadio Nells. He was also a devoted husband who married Fatoumata Coulibaly on June 21, 2018 in Bamako, Mali.

Marvin joined the U.S. Army in January of 1999 and served his country with honor. During his service, he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal thrice, the Meritorious Service Medal thrice and numerous other awards. He was deployed to Afghanistan five times in service to the United States. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Marvin was captivated by his witty sense of humor, mature air and his love of family, friends and country. Marvin enjoyed attending sporting events, excelled in basketball and had a passion for reading. He completed his Bachelor's degree at Campbell University and was working toward his Master's degree at the time of his passing.

Marvin is survived by his wife, four daughters, parents and three brothers, Wilfred Nells Jr. (Kiesha Nells), Torrey Nells and Joshua Nells (Lakiesha Nells); and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Florence Hite, grandfather, Elisha Hite; his paternal grandmother Helen M. Nells and grandfather, William H. Nells and one sister Cachilla S. Nells.

Memorial services for Marvin will be held Friday August 29, 2025 at the Residence Baptist Church, 2605 Isaac St. Houma LA. 70363. There will be a visitation hour beginning at 9:00 am and the memorial service will begin at 10:00 am. His final resting place will be the Emanuel Baptist Church Cemetery.
