Melvin Fields, age 57, a resident of Patterson and a native of Baldwin, La., died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at 5:01 pm at his residence. Visitation will be Saturday, September 1, 2012 at St. Luke Baptist Church from 10:00 AM until funeral service at 2:00 PM. Burial in the Franklin Cemetery. Melvin leaves to cherish his memories; his parents, Rev. Joseph Fields and Rosa Lee Fields of Verdunville, La., his wife, Sylvia M. Fields of Patterson, La., one daughter, Dyesha D. Fields of Patterson, La., four brothers, Wilfred Fields, Vernon Fields, Lionel Fields, and Michael Fields; four sisters, Cynthia Fleming, Shelia Jones, Pamela Randle and Debra Thomas; two grandchildren, Mariah G. Fields and Chandler J. Fields and a host of relatives and friends. Preceded in death by a brother, Harold Fields and a sister, Brenda Ely.
