Onita Harris

Visitation and funeral services will be observed on Monday, December 12, 2022, beginning at 9:00 AM until funeral time at 11:00 AM at St. Luke Baptist Church 3755 Bayou Black Drive Houma, LA 70360. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. 

She is survived by her husband, Charles Harris. Son, James Carter, Sr., (Meldren) and daughters; Rose Cheavis (Reginald), Joanne Coleman (Herman, Sr.) and granddaughter; Andrell Jones (Stanley). Brothers; Lloyd and Raymond Ruffin and sisters; Geraldine Williams of Monroe, LA; Carolyn Dennis of Dallas, TX, Betty Coleman of Houma, LA and Shirley Frankline of New Orleans, LA. Ten grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; fourteen great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Ruffin, Sr., and Bernice Ruffin. Sons; Ervin and Wayne Carter and daughters; Barbara Carter and Sandra Brown. Brothers; Irvin, Alton, Larry, Rineys, James, Jr., and Carl Ruffin and sisters; Gertrude Howard and Bertha Clay.
