Patricia Smith

Patricia Ann Smith’s earthly life began on April 19, 1960 to the late Evans Smith, Sr. and Dorothy Celestine Smith. She was a resident and native of Raceland, LA. She was raised in a Christian home where she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was baptized on June 13, 1982 by the late Rev. DR. Levi Jones at Morning Star Baptist Church in Raceland, LA. She entered eternal rest on May 17, 2025.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2025 from 9 AM -11 AM at Bethany Church, 414 Barrow St, Houma, LA. Funeral service will begin at 11 AM also at Bethany Church. Burial will follow at Crescent Farm Cemetery, 1216 Savanne Rd., Houma, LA.

Patricia was a selfless giver and the heart of her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, friend, and so much more to countless others. She embraced the role of homemaker with grace and purpose, dedicating her time and energy to nurturing her children with unwavering love and care. In her spare time, she loved taking care of her cats, shopping, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. Patricia also had a deep passion for interior decorating and took pride in beautifying her home and flower beds, creating warm, welcoming spaces for all who entered. Her greatest joy came from caring for others; especially, her beloved grandchildren who called her “Maw Maw” whom she cherished deeply. Her legacy of love, generosity, and devotion lives on in all who were fortunate to know her.

Her memories will forever be cherished by her children Brad Smith (Jonie) Prairieville, LA, Chad Smith (Elisha) Gibson, LA, and Latashia Smith Houston, TX; six grandchildren Trevor Diggs, Unique Robinson, Samiya Smith, Jaylah Smith, Brasia Smith, and Malala Robinson, and one great grandchild Rylee Diggs; one goddaughter LaQuista Smith Bourda, brothers Evans Smith, Jr., Leonard Smith, Herman Smith (Kathleen), Earl Smith (Chandra), and Sylvester Smith (Donna Ann); Sisters Gustavia Richardson, Hattie Coleman (Ernest, Sr.), and Vera Hodges (Thomas, Sr.) all of Raceland, LA along with a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Evans Smith Sr. and Dorothy Celestine Smith; brothers Robert Smith, Sr. and Jerry Lee Smith; sisters Dorothy Mae Smith, Emilie W. Lee, Amy Ann Smith, Geraldine Smith Jones, and Sandra Ann Smith; brother-in-laws Edgie Lee Richardson and Joe Willis Jones; and sister-in-law Patricia L. Smith; her paternal grandparents Jerry and Hattie Smith and maternal grandparents Robert and Mary Jane Thomas Celestine.
