Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until service time at 12:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at New Zion Baptist Church in Houma, Louisiana, 263 Grand Caillou Road. Burial will follow in Bisland Cemetery.
Rudolph “Rudy” Preston Jr., a native of Chauvin, LA and a resident of Houma, LA was born to the late Priscilla Carter Preston and Rudolph Preston Sr. on August 28, 1968.
He came to know Jesus Christ at an early age and was baptized at the St. Peter Baptist Church by the late Rev. J.H. Thompson Sr.
Rudy was a graduate of South Terrebonne High School. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and listening to Blues music. Rudy held memberships in various civic and social organizations including the Blaine C. Clay Lodge #14 and The Super 20 Social & Pleasure club. He thought himself to be the world’s biggest Dallas Cowboys fan. Family, and in particular his son “R.J” was so important to him.
Rudy was the father of one son, Rudolph Jamar Preston.
Rudy had a faith that was steadfast and immovable, so when the Angels of the Lord came down from the Heavens to carry him back home, he was ready for the journey ahead. He departed this life on Saturday, February 15, 2025.
As he parts us, he parted knowing that his family will be watched over and comforted by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, leaving to mourn his passing, his son Rudolph Preston; three sisters, Shelia (Aaron) Watson, Pamela Preston and Sharonlyn (Junius) Vincent; one brother, Clayton Preston; a niece, Shemika Morris; three nephews, Troy Smith Jr., Roland Morris Jr. and Earl Fry III; three great-nieces, Regina Morris, Tiana Smith and Tori Smith and two great-nephews, Ro’mari Morris and Tyrell Fry; one great-great nephew , Zayden Fry: two godchildren, James Small III and Za’lashia Ray; one god sister, Elesha Williams; and a host of aunts, uncles, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph Preston Sr. and Priscilla Carter Preston; two sisters, Regina Morris and Janet Carter Fitchue, his maternal grandparents, Ethel K. Carter and Albert Lagarde; and paternal grandparents, Dora Parker Preston and Ruby Preston.
