

Born on October 18, 1959, to the late Alvin T. Richardson, Sr. and Gercia L. Richardson, Russel lived a life marked by hard work, creativity, generosity, and a deep love for music and family.
He is survived by his sister, Terria R. Boyd of Bogalusa, Louisiana; his brothers, Rodney Richardson of Austin, Texas, Benjamin Richardson (Sharon), and Vernon Richardson of New Iberia, Louisiana; his aunt, Mary P. Ruffin (Lee); and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will cherish his memory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin T. Richardson, Sr. and Gercia L. Richardson; his brothers, William J. Richardson, Sterling K. Richardson, and Alvin T. Richardson, Jr.; his paternal grandparents, William and Isabel Richardson, Sr.; and his maternal grandparents, T.J. and Mattie Lewis.
Russel graduated from South Terrebonne High School in 1977. A gifted and multi-talented musician, he played the trumpet and enjoyed performing with his family. Known affectionately as “Daddy Rich,” he became widely recognized for his talents as a DJ and entertainer, bringing joy to audiences wherever he performed.
From an early age, Russel demonstrated an entrepreneurial spirit. At just nine years old, he began operating greeting card and other small businesses. His dedication and work ethic continued throughout his life, leading to the success of his janitorial company, Janco Janitorial, which served the community for many years.
Above all, Russel will be remembered for his generous heart and compassionate nature. He never hesitated to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and even strangers in need. His kindness, warmth, and willingness to serve others left a lasting impact on countless lives.
His legacy of love, service, and perseverance will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, 230 S. Hollywood Road, Houma, Louisiana.
A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m.
