

1958– 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Russell R. Seymour, a devoted father, skilled chef, and cherished member of the New Orleans community. Russell passed away peacefully on March 8, 2025, at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and dedication.
Born and raised in Uptown New Orleans, Russell was the son of the late Russell and Gloria Seymour. He was a graduate of Walter L. Cohen High School and pursued studies at Xavier University. His passion for the culinary arts led him to a long and fulfilling career in some of the city's most beloved restaurants, including Pascal’s Manale, Superior Grill, Landry’s Seafood, and Crepe Nanou. Whether preparing Italian delicacies, grilling specialties, or crafting comforting breakfast dishes, Russell took great pride in his craft and was known for his unwavering dedication in every kitchen he worked in.
Beyond his culinary career, Russell was a hardworking and versatile professional. He spent time in construction, landscaping, and served as an Emergency Medical Technician at Flint Goodridge Hospital, always finding ways to contribute to his community and support those around him.
Russell was a man of faith. He was a member of the Knights of Peter Claver Council 47 at Blessed Sacrament Church and a devoted parishioner of St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Holy Ghost Church, where he found comfort and strength in his beliefs. For the last twenty years, he resided with his sister, Rhonda, and they attended church together every Sunday, sharing a deep spiritual bond. He was also a passionate sports fan, always cheering on his beloved New Orleans Saints through every season, especially on Sundays with family and friends. In his free time, he loved assembling and admiring vintage model cars, a hobby that brought him great joy and a sense of nostalgia.
Above all, Russell was a loving and devoted father. He is survived by his beloved children, Reagan Sharrett, Regis Seymour, and Ashley White; His beautiful grandchildren, Meagan Danielle Hall and Ma’Cai Dax Mosley, who will forever hold his memory close to their hearts. He also leaves behind his dear siblings, Rosalynn S. Barabino (Vernon Jr.), Rhonda S. Bonds, and Roderic Seymour (Tama).
Russell was a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews: Vernon Barabino III, Racquel N. Hall, Porche' R. Bonds, Kristen B. Mason (Rodney) and Morgan B. Green (Alvin). Their children, who resembled and adored their great-uncle, will carry forward the fond memories and love he shared with them. Along with them, he leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory. His warmth, humor, and hard-working spirit will continue to live on through his loved ones and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be from 9am until 9:45am with Mass of Christian Burial at 10am St. Katharine Drexel Parish at Holy Ghost Church, 2015 Louisiana Ave. New Orleans, LA 70115 Fr. Lambert A. Lein, SVD Officiating.
Burial will follow service at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church Cemetery, 4928 N Bayou Black Drive Gibson, La 70356
