

Sam was raised going to church. She was baptized at an early age by the late Reverend James Allen, Sr. at the Mount Pilgrim Baptist church in Gibson, LA. Later she joined the Greater New Vision Baptist Church.
After many tests and trials, it was time. On Friday, October 24, 2025 God called Sam's name, she was listening. Being obedient for once in her life, SHE ANSWERED. She knew there was a mansion prepared for her.
Sam was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Mae Hayes and father, Carl Preston Hayes; paternal grandparents, Alice W. Hayes and Sylvester Fitch; maternal grandparents, Gracie R. Hayes and Martin Daniel Stewart; and one granddaughter, Alaisha Nicole Robertson.
Sam was known and loved by many people. Among those who will cherish her memories are; her Fiance' Sylvester Sterling Brooks of Houma, LA; two sisters, Theresa (Thomas) Joseph and Nicole Hayes of Houma, LA; two sons, Carl Preston Hayes, II (Chantell) of Houma, LA, and Jermichael Hayes (Jerneshia) of Houma, LA; her Godparents, Annie Stewart and Donald Williams of Gibson, LA; five God Siblings, lsizel Matthews of Gibson, LA, Mary (Latoya) Matthews of Jacksonville, FL, Donald (Chanelle) Williams of Deltona FL, Abigail (Wilbert) Petite of Baton Rouge, LA, and Eric (Linda K.) Jackson of Gibson, LA; three- Godchildren, Maurice Stewart, Matt Stewart, and Brianna Stewart; 10-grandchildren; Keilyn, Ja'kyrien, Joshiah, Jariah, Cainen, Jeremiah, Ceanna, Jaceion, Ty'Lynn, and Joi Lovey; Chosen Daughter Tynesha Kenny, her best friend, Linda K. Jackson; and a host of aunts, cousins and friends.
A visitation for Samantha will be held Saturday, November 1, 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Greater New Vision Baptist Church, 6036 W Main St, Houma, LA 70360, followed by a funeral service from 11:30 AM.
