Shirley Mae Thibodeaux-Clark

Shirley Mae Thibodeaux Clark, age 70, went home to glory on the morning of May 25th, 2012 after a gradual decline in health at Terrebonne General Hospital in Houma, La. She was surrounded and supported by her loving family and caregivers during the last days of her life. she loved her family dearly even on her bed of affliction she constantly expressed her love to her children and grandchildren. Shirley loved the LORD with all that was within her the day before her appointment with DEATH she and her Pastor along with FAMILY sung what became her favorite hymn; ""I LOVE THE LORD."" Visitation will be Saturday, June 2, 2012 at Pleasant View Missionary Baptist Church in Houma, La., from 9:00 AM until funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in the Southdown Cemetery in Houma, La. Shirley Mae Thibodeaux-Clark was born on October 30, 1941 to the late Eula Mae Lyons Davis and the late Van Thibodeaux, Sr., in New Orleans, La. She was the elder of 18 children. Shirley was loved and cared for by her beloved Aunt Rosa Davis of Avondale, La. As she grew into her adult life Shirley became a very compassionate person. She enjoyed caring for others well-being. Her intent of compassion later led to her education in the field of nursing, which she became a Registered Nurse. In Los Angeles, CA., where she learned to help people. She carried out her passion by working at Santa Rosa Convalescent Hospital in Santa Rosa, CA. At the age of 18, she discovered her sweetheart, the late Nelson Joseph Clark, Jr., whom she later married on August 8, 1960. She leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Kevin (Telisa) Clark, and Joseph Clark both of Houma, La., and Brandon Clark of Morgan City, La; five daughters, Rose Marie (Leland) Showers of Lancing, Mich., Mellissa Clark and Tracy Clark both of Houma, La., Debra Clark of Westwego, La., and Crystal Clark of Avondale, La; one godchild, Trovelous Taliba Broomfield of Atlanta, GA; eight brothers, Chester Davis, Arthur Davis, Charles Davis, Peter (Belle) Thibodeaux, Charlie (Felicia)Thibodeaux, Roger (Felicia) Raymond and Henry Thibodeaux all of Houma, La; three sister, Marie (Kevin) Ray, Marion (Welton) Grainger both of Houma, La., and Joyce Davis of Thibodaux, La; her very devoted aunt, Margaret (Sidney) Dees of Pensacola, FL; fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, forty-four nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Nelson Clark, Jr., her son Ernest Joseph Clark, her parents, Eula Mae Lyons Davis and Van Thibodeaux, Sr., two sisters, Carolyn and Norma Jean Davis, four brothers, Michael Jones, Sr., Van Thibodeaux, Jr., Lionel Thibodeaux and Herman Thibodeaux. Shirley will forever be missed by her family.
