Shirley “Nanny” Brooks

Shirley Matthews “Nanny” Brooks, a resident of Los Angeles, CA and life long resident of Morgan City, LA, passed away on Sunday November 24, 2019 at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood, CA. 

Visitation will be observed on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church 113 Federal Avenue Morgan City, LA from 9:00 AM until funeral services at 1:00 PM. Reverend C. F. Smith, will officiate the services. Entombment will follow in the Morgan City Mausoleum.

When the Lord call Shirley home, she now leaves to cherish her memory: her loving daughter, Yvette (Gregory) Williams of Los Angeles, CA: beloved grandchildren: Lawrence A. (Trudy) Brooks of Morgan City, LA; Theron J. (Stephanie) Brooks of San Bernardino, CA, Sherri Lynn Brooks  and Shelly Broussard both of West Covina, CA, Shelly (Christopher) Marcell of Bayou Vista and Stephon (Karen) Brooks of CA; her great-grandchildren, De'Aaron, Cameron, Aiden, Mia, Joshua, Justin, Andre', Tre', Kaci and Bradley; her loving niece, Gisele Washington Gibson and her children Asha and Ashton and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her loving son, Lawrence James Brooks; her parents, Berry & Celia Matthews; two brothers, John Murray and Herman Matthews; two sisters, Helen Washington and Celia B. Matthews and a niece, Nettie A. Murray.
