

Minister Sterling Sims, 70, a native and resident of Houma, Louisiana was born on November 1, 1954 to Doretha Sims and James McGuire. He was baptized at a very young age in the community of Smithridge, which is when he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord & Savior.
Sterling spent much of his childhood in Houma, La with his favorite Great Aunt, Lucille Socko and Great Uncle, Commander Socko (A.K. A. Uncle Frog). Sterling Sims was a very devoted Christian minister to his church and his faith, which was Dularge Community Baptist Church of Houma, Louisiana where he enjoyed doing the work that the Lord called him to do under the leadership of Sr. Pastor Jabyron Parker. Sterling touched so many lives during his walk in his commitment to Christ. Sterling was a Dedicated person in his community where he helped anyone who needed a helping hand and by no doubt you had to ever wonder if he was going to finish the job because as his goal was to start, his goal was to definitely finish any task he started. As you all know that his late mother & his siblings meant the world to him. Sterling Sims, was also known to many as “Rev. Or Unc” to everyone he met. He just never met a stranger. He always had a positive word for everyone he encountered in his community, he shined a light in your life that made you never forget you ever crossed paths with him.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM at Dularge Community Baptist Church 549 Andrew St. Houma, Louisiana. Burial will follow in the Cornerstone Baptist Church Cemetery 3830 LA 56 Houma, Louisiana.
Sterling had an unbreakable bond with his youngest sibling who is also his only surviving brother, Carey Sims Sr, whom he often called “little brother”. They were like two peas in a pod but nonetheless they always looked out for each other and talked daily. The shared sibling love between them is immeasurable. A host of great Nieces and Nephews and his Beloved Neighbors; Wilma & Jackie Williams.
Sterling Sims was proceeded in death by his Mother Doretha Sims, His Father James McGuire, One Brother; Steve Sims; One Sister, Geraldine Toney; Nephew “Ernest “Pops” Sims; His Grandparents; Ethel Ross and Osborn Sims; Grandfather Clarence McGuire, Great Aunt Lucille Socko and Great Uncle Commander Socko (A.K. A. Uncle Frog; Aunts, Rosemary Williams and Caldonia Ross, Great Grandparent; Octavia Nixon, Great Grandparent; Ella Moses.
