

Recognizing the need for a spiritual life, he was baptized at First Baptist Church on Main Street in Houma, LA.
“Junior” enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. At times, he assisted in rearing his niece, Jessica, and nephews, Markiese, Brandon and Byron, Jr., when their parents were both deployed in support of the United States Army.
Junior’s hobbies included watching classic movies, collecting coins and discussing comic book characters with his family and friends. He was also a huge fan of Star Trek.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara E. Celestine; maternal grandparents, Junius and Ruth Evans; as well as paternal grandparents, Herman and Lillian C. Celestin.
He is survived by his father, Sylvester Celestin, Sr. of Houma, LA; his brother, Byron C. Celestine, Sr. (Jen’et) of Leesville, LA; his sister, Sylvelynn R. Celestine of Houma, LA; his uncles, Carl Evans of Flint, MI, Lloyd Celestin (Natalie) of Houma, LA and Rufus Celestin, Sr. of Houma, LA; his aunts, Dianne Livas of Houma, LA and Alice Celestin of Raceland, LA; his nieces, Jessica Celestine of Leesville, LA and Shameka Henderson of Houma, LA; his nephews, Markiese Boykin of Lawton, OK, Brandon Celestine of Killeen, TX, Ernest Henderson, Jr. of Houma, LA, Lentrell Henderson of Houma, LA and Byron Celestine, Jr. of Spangdahlem, Germany (AFB) Air Force Base.
A Visitation will be held from 9 AM until service time at 11 AM on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 2766 Hwy 311, Houma. LA. Following the funeral service will be a burial at St. Luke Baptist Church Cemetery, 3755 Bayou Black Dr., Houma, LA.
