Tarra Kenny McGuire

Visitation will begin Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 9:00–11:00AM at Dularge Community Baptist Church, 549 Andrew St, Houma, LA 70360. Funeral Service begins at 11:00AM.

After a funeral procession, burial will take place in Christ Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 3152 Hwy 311, Houma, LA 70360.

Tarra Lashone Kenny was born on December 8, 1973 to the parentage of Betty Mae Kenny and George Williams, Jr.

She was affectionately known as “Shone”, “Teedie”, “T-Shone”, or “Maw Maw”. Tarra confessed Christ at an early age was baptized at Christ Missionary Baptist Church by the late Rev. Prosper Johnson.

She was educated in the schools of Terrebonne Parish but she understood that her gifts and talents came from God. Tarra kept busy working with the youth ministry in her church. She sponsored a summer camp to keep the children learning and engaged during summer months.

On September 16, 2006, Tarra married the love of her life, Ogama Jermaine McGuire, and the Lord blessed this union with nine children. With a large family, Tarra and Jermaine embraced family gatherings and enjoyed many holidays with plenty of love and laughter. As her family expanded, the MOST profound and compelling force in Tarra’s life was the love she carried for her grandchildren, also known as “The Petty Crew”. She lovingly spent time with them, teaching them kindness and how to care for themselves and others. They shared memorable fun with pranks and videos.

Tarra leaves to cherish her memories, her dedicated, loyal husband, Ogama Jermaine McGuire; their children, Tyesha, Adrian, Jordell, Tynesha, Tyrenesha, Tyese, Bry’Nasha, Jo’Nathan, and Bella, all of Houma, LA; Grandchildren (Petty Crew): Alayya, Torielle, Adrain, Markenzie, Ge’Ron, Kingston, Kahryn, Ky’Lynn, Korei, Ty’lynn, Khalon, Kamil, and Cali, all of Houma, LA; Sisters, Tracey (Latronce) Harris, Jerryilyn Redford of Houma, LA; and two brothers, Michael (Lakaria) Kenny of Florida and Arronderick Washington of Houma, LA ; three Godchildren, Lyneisha Harris, Joellyn Williams of Woodlands, TX, and Joshua Scott of Houma, LA; Godmother, Linda Brumfield; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Long before her health began to fail, and even throughout her illness — Tarra spent her life putting others first and serving others in their time of need. She gave until she had no more breath to give. She will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.
